At least 25 policemen arrested for drug trafficking, false entry

At least 25 policemen and prosecution investigators were arrested in various parts of the country on Wednesday for charges of drug trafficking and false entry.

17 policemen were arrested for allegedly trafficking cocaine to the island of San Andres, another 8 captured for stealing cocaine from a drug gang, 4 agents of the Technical Investigation Team (CTI) of the Prosecutor General’s Office, and 2 policemen under charges of false entry.

According to newspaper El Espectador, the 17 policemen were charged for assisting gangs “Los Rastrojos” and “Los Paisas” move cocaine from various parts of Colombia to the Carribean island of San Andreas. Authorities had placed these 17 policemen under surveillance for more than a year, reported Caracol Radio.

8 members of the police were also captured for the suspected robbery of nearly 5,000 kilos of cocaine from slain paramilitary drug lord Pedro Oliverio Guerrero.

In another case, a judge in Bogota authorized the capture of 4 members of the CTI under charges of false entry after they were caught with a false search warrant.
