Medellin bans Pablo Escobar sticker album

Medellin has banned the distribution of a recent Pablo Escobar sticker album.

Medellin’s government announced that police would immediately be seizing the album titled, “Pablo Escobar, Boss of Evil,” a sticker booklet spurred by the recent television show about the life of Colombia’s most famous drug trafficker.

Distribution of the 20-page album began several weeks ago, mostly in the northeastern neighborhoods of Colombia’s second-largest city, and sparked enthusiasm from collectors, especially those from younger generations. As many of the images in the booklet seemingly lionize the late drug trafficker, authorities believe the book portrays Escobar as something of a hero to these young people.

The booklet contains representations of Escobar from his personal and political life as well as images of neighborhoods where he invested in social projects.  The album also mixes reality with fiction by including aspects of the recent soap opera from the Caracol channel.

Police are prohibiting further distribution of the booklet and have begun to immediately seize remaining copies.
