Medellin assume first position of Copa Mustang by winning city derby

Independiente Medellin took the lead in the Copa Mustang by beating Atletico Nacional in an entertaining city derby. In Cali, the city derby was won by America.

In the paisa ‘clasico’, Medellin was first set behind by Nacional, that scored halfway the first half. Less than five minutes later, Medellin came even.

Both teams continued to have chances, but it was Medellin that took one in the second half. A penalty in extra time secured the 3-1 end score.

The red team from Antioquia was able to push Atletico Huila off the first place in the Copa Mustang, after the Neiva team lost in Tolima.

In Cali, the derby was won by America by 3-1. It was the first victory of officially Colombia’s best team ever this season.
