Martinez leads Medellin past America de Cali

Independiente Medellin successfully defended their Copa Mustang II lead with a 1-2 victory at America de Cali, while Atletico Nacional were held to a 1-1 draw by Deportivo Pasto.

Andres Andrade put America ahead after 42 minutes against Medellin, but the away team were once again inspired by Jackson Martinez in the second half. The young striker leveled the score in the 57th minute, and netted a winner in the 78th.

Atletico Nacional headed for a win over Pasto after an own goal from Jimmy Asprilla in the 29th minute, but couldn’t avoid an equalizer from Oscar Altamirano with nine minutes to go. Pasto fought their way back into this game despite being a man down since minute 56, when Juan Bazan picked up a red card.

La Equidad were held to a goalless draw by Pereira, a result that significantly reduces the Bogota side’s chances of making it to the next round.
