Man sentenced for transporting murdered students

A judge in the northern Colombian Cordoba department has sentenced a taxi driver for transporting two students to their murderous deaths January, Caracol Radio reported Thursday.

Cristian David Bravo, who drives a motorcycle taxi, admitted to having taken part in the killing of the two biology students from the prestigious Andes University in Bogota,

which subsequently sparked an offensive against illegal armed groups in the region.

Bravo was captured by authorities on February 16. The judge decided to give Bravo a reduced sentence for admitting his role in transporting the students to San Bernardo del Viento, where they were killed on the orders of alias “Gavilan,” the ex-AUC member who now leads “Los Urabeños.”
