La Equidad moved into the top eight of the Colombian Liga Postobon following a 3-0 win over Junior on Sunday, while Deportes Tolima came back from behind to beat Boyaca Chico.
Days after qualifying for the second round of the Copa Libertadores, Junior were less convincing in the domestic league as the Barranquilla side crashed to a 3-0 defeat at La Equidad in Bogota.
Javier Araujo put the home side in the lead after 12 minutes at El Techo stadium, and Juan Nuñez made it 2-0 four minutes before the break. Soon after half time, Dawlin Leudo added a third.
Deportes Tolima got their fourth win of the season, despite first going a goal down against Boyaca Chico. The Tunja side took the lead on five minutes as John Jairo Charria converted a penalty.
Gustavo Bolivar leveled just five minutes later however, and the visitors went a man down just before the interval as Yhonny Ramirez was red-carded. In the second half, Wilder Medina found the target twice for a 3-1 victory.
America de Cali edged a bit closer to the top eight, beating Santa Fe 2-0 with goals from Aviles Hurtado and William Zapata. Santa Fe’s Gerardo Bedoya was sent off at the end of the first half.
The match between Envigado and Atletico Huila, which ended 1-1, will be remembered for its disciplinary record as four players were sent for an early shower. Nelson Lemus, Andres Orozco and Yilmar Angulo were all sent off for Envigado, leaving the hosts with just eight players on the pitch. Huila’s Wilson Morelo was red-carded as well.
As for goals, it was Envigado to open the scoring through Freddy Hurtado in the 26th minute, but Henry Rojas’ equaliser eight minutes later turned out to be worth a point.
In the day’s remaining game, Real Cartagena and Deportivo Cali held each other to a 1-1 draw.
Currently on course for a spot in the next round are Once Caldas, Atletico Nacional, Itagüi Ditaires, Deportes Quindio, Envigado, Deportes Tolima, La Equidad and Millonarios.
