La Equidad beat Tolima on penalties to advance to final

La Equidad are through to the final of the Colombian Liga Postobon, beating Deportes Tolima on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate result.

The first leg ended in 2-2, leaving with Tolima with a slight advantage for the second.

That advantage became a lot bigger when Franco Arizala put the Ibague outfit ahead after less than two minutes in the return leg.

But La Equidad fought their way back as Sherman Cardenas equalised in the 26th minute. As the Liga Postobon does not use away goals to determine which team advances, a penalty shoot-out was required.

Of the nine spot-kicks taken, only four were actually converted. As three of these were La Equidad’s, the Bogota side advance to the final against either Junior or Independiente Medellin.
