Jugde withdraws arrest warrant for Minister

A Medellin judge on Tuesday withdrew the arrest warrent for Health Minister Diego Palacio after the Minister promised to comply with a court order he so far had ignored.

According to radiostation Caracol, the Minister was told about the suspension of his three days in jail while authorities had already begun taking him to the facility where he would have to spend three days behind bars.

Apparently the Minister ignored a court order that obligated the Minister to reinstate a former goverment employee who had become unemployed after his government entity was being dismantled.

It’s the second time in his term as Minister that Palacio barely knows to stay out of jail. He was ordered to spend time in prison for disobeying a court order once before, but was let off the hook after promising to comply.

Palacio is also under criminal investigation over the alleged bribery of Congressmen to approve legislation that allowed President Alvaro Uribe to run for office again in 2006.
