Colombian super-star Juanes said Sunday via Twittercam that the diplomatic crisis between Colombia and Venezuela “hurts a lot” and that the two nations should remain brothers “forever.”
“It hurts me a lot when things become complicated again … Venezuela and Colombia are brothers and that’s how they should remain forever,” Juanes said during his half hour Twittercam appearance from Miami.
During his “chat” with close to 5,000 fans, Juanes revealed that a tour of Colombia is in the works for “the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012” and added he hoped he could “eventually” hold a concert in the violence-riddled Mexican border town of Ciudad Juarez, which to date hasn’t been possible due the city’s security situation.
As well as touching on his country’s international relations, the pop sensation, who turns 38 Monday, light-heartedly admitted that he is “addicted to video games, in spite of my age.”
Venezuela broke diplomatic ties with Colombia in late July, after former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe’s administration presented allegations of a guerrilla presence in Venezuela to the Organization of American States.
Since Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was sworn in to office Saturday, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has expressed a willingness to work towards repairing severed ties. He is scheduled to meet with Santos in Bogota Tuesday.
