Jackson Martinez, top scorer of the 2009 Copa Mustang II, is set to continue his career at Mexican outfit Jaguares de Chiapas, the club announced.
Martinez, a 23-year-old forward born in Quibdo, Choco, attracted international attention with his performance in the Copa Mustang, where his goalscoring abilities played a key part in Independiente Medellin’s walk to the title.
For about a month, it was assumed that Martinez would join Korean side Ulsan, as the player signed a pre-contract with that club.
Since then, however, more teams have shown their interest. River Plate had an offer turned down by Medellin but Jaguares’ attempt was more successful.
At Jaguares, Martinez teams up with fellow Colombian Luis Fernando Mosquera, who also left Medellin ahead of the 2010 season.
