Huila to defend lead as Copa Mustang continues

Colombian Copa Mustang action continues this Friday as Once Caldas face
America de Cali in Manizales. A day later, Atletico Huila will get to defend
their lead against Santa Fe.

Defending champions Once Caldas lost to La Equidad last week and will want a quick comeback to make sure that they don’t end up in a negative streak. America de Cali haven’t had the start they hoped for either though, having drawn both of their first two games.

Atletico Huila are the only side to have won their first two games and could add a third victory against Santa Fe. However, Santa Fe should be more confident after last week’s win over Boyaca Chico and an interesting clash should therefore be expected in Armenia.

The other game on Saturday is the match between Deportivo Cali and Deportivo Pereira. Cali particularly need the points, having earned only one point so far.

Arguably the most attractive fixture on Sunday is the game between Atletico Nacional and Atletico Junior. Nacional are yet to earn their first win while Junior recovered from an opening round defeat by beating Cucuta last week. Junior have the best memories from the last meeting with Nacional, having beaten the Medellin outfit 3-0 in February this year.

Second-placed Deportes Quindio visit Cucuta and could have a chance to move into first provided that Huila lose on Saturday.

In other action on Sunday, Millonarios host Tolima, Independiente Medellin visit Real Cartagena and Deportivo Pasto receive La Equidad.
