The house in which notorious Medellin drug baron Pablo Escobar died is up for sale, Colombian media reported Tuesday.

The house in the Los Olivos neighborhood, in the western part of Colombia’s second largest city, was bought by the current owner Omar Restrepo in 2008.
“I was looking for a house to remodel to my taste and a gentleman introduced me to the lawyer handling the property. As we were going to seal the deal, he told me … that in this house, Pablo Escobar was killed,” said Restrepo.
The property was the home of the “world’s most wanted man” for two months before his death on December 2, 1993.
Despite this, Restrepo — a heavy machinery importer — bought the property which had been abandoned for over 15 years. It had been stripped of furniture, bathroom fittings and even electric cables and was being used by thieves and other criminals.
“The plumbing has been changed, I put down new floors and put in some luxuries but conserved the general characteristics of the appearance so that the property did not lose its historical value,” said the importer.
Restrepo said that one year ago, Sebastian Marroquin, the son of the late drug baron visited the house with other family members and tried to propose the sale, but he wasn’t convinced.
According to Restrepo, a national television channel told him it would send the paperwork for the sale of the property, but hasn’t done so thus far.
