Five people killed in massacre in South Colombia

 

Five people were killed and six reported injured in a massacre in the South of Colombia, local media reported.

The incident took place in a rural area of Tumaco, Nariño department, where young people were having a private party when at least 10 armed men came and began to shoot indiscriminately, Police Commander Oscar Naranjo said.

Government secretary Fabio Trujillo believes that the drug gang ‘los rastrojos’ is responsible for the massacre, reported El Tiempo

The authorities offer a reward of 10 million Peso to those who provide information that will lead to the capture of the perpetrators.

So far, the motives of the massacre are unknown.

The region is subject to a fierce dispute over control of territories between paramilitary groups and the FARC.
