The FARC radio station ‘Voice of Resistance’ began transmitting again to Ecuadorean communities close to the Colombian border. ‘Voice of Resistance’ had been off air for more than a year.
The FM frequency radio station is transmitting political messages such as “Uribe’s government follows Washington’s compass” and “the state’s leadership, starting with Uribe — the head of the paramilitary — is being invaded by drug trafficking-parapolitics,” W Radio reported.
Ecuadorean media outlet Ecuavisa discovered ‘Voice of Resistance’s’ transmissions.
The radio station also incites listeners to form an “army of the people” and urges “you can’t be left out, compañero, of this insurrectional torrent overtaking Colombia”.
‘Voice of Resistance’ also plays a mix of Colombian music genres such as vallenatos, salsas and corridos, with subversive lyrics.
The FARC are targeting housewives, farmers, taxi and truck drivers, youth and children who live along the border, according W Radio.
“Greetings to all the farmers, to all humble people, to the poor. Greetings to all the children of Colombia, the future of Colombia. Greetings also to all the teachers and to all the guerrillas from the 48th front and the 49th, 15th, 13th and 14th fronts,” one emission says.
