FARC kidnap 2 soldiers: Army

Guerrillas of the FARC have kidnapped two soldiers from village 40 miles southwest of Medellin, the army said in a press release Monday.

The alleged kidnapping took place on the in El Limon, a town in the south of the Antioquia department and was allegedly carried out by members of the FARC’s 36th front.

The guerrilla group did not confirm the kidnapping.

The FARC are known to hold 17 members of the security forces captive for political leverage. An unknown number of civilians is held hostage by the guerrillas for extortion purposes.
