‘FARC attack’ in western Colombia leaves 1 soldier dead

A suspected FARC attack left one soldier dead and two civilians wounded in the western department of Choco, reported radio station Caracol Friday.

The killed policeman was identified as the 35-year-old Mauricio Gonzalez Arango

The authorities said the FARCs 34th Front, led by alias “Chaverra,” was behind the attack, in which two civilians were allegedly wounded.

The attack took place in Medio Atrato, a municipality some 120 miles west of Colombia’s second largest city Medellin.
