Hundreds of fans Thursday said goodbye to Rafael Escalona, one of Colombia’s greatest musical legends who died Wednesday at 81.
The memorial service held in honor of the composer and singer was held in the National Congress building and attended by Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, a large number of the highest government officials and hundreds of fans.
On Bogota’s central Bolivar Square, a mass in honor of the master was organized.
After the Bogota ceremonies, the body of Escalona will be taken to Valledupar where he will be buried.
