Former paramilitary leader ‘Don Berna’ asked Colombian opposition
senator Piedad Córdoba to visit him in his U.S. prison. He is the
second AUC leader in a week to seek the senator’s support.
Sunday the senator revealed that former AUC head Salvatore Mancuso had asked Córdoba to visit him, because of the troubles the extradited AUC leaders have to continue confessing their crimes before Colombian justice.
According to Mancuso, his family and the families of others who want to collaborate with justice receive threats and he feels the reparation process can not continue while people are being threatened and killed.
The lawyer of ‘Don Berna’, former paramilitary ruler in Antioquia, called on the senator to help him too. He request to talk to her and Mario Iguarán, Colombia’s Prosecutor General, to ensure the continuation of the ‘Justice and Peace’ process.
