Dispossession of land in north Colombia

Colombia’s Prosecutor General revealed evidence of dispossession in connection with paramilitary in two of Colombia’s northern regions.

According to Caracol Radio, the Prosecutor General has revealed new evidence proving “land grabs” by paramilitary leaders in the Uraba and Cordoba regions along the Caribbean.

Allegedly, the evidence that includes fingerprint tracking proves that paramilitary had stripped farmers of their land in these regions.

The case is scheduled to be heard in the city of Medellin’s Justice and Peace court and filed with the land restitution authorities.

Dispossesion of land and land resitution has proven to be an incumbent challenge for Colombia, mostly caused by different armed forces such as paramilitary and guerrillas throughout the country.
