Delta and Avianca resume partnership

U.S. airline Delta will resume its code sharing agreement with Colombian Avianca with the aim of offering U.S. clients flights to more cities in Colombia with shorter stop overs.

The alliance will allow airlines to increase U.S. and Colombian air service to a dozen U.S. cities, as well as to Bogota, Cali, Barranquilla, Medellin and Cartagena.

Because of the code sharing, passengers of both airlines will have swifter transfers between flights of both companies.

The agreement had been suspended in June 2008.
