DAS seizes $22 million of cartel assets

Colombia’s intelligence agency DAS has seized estates, luxury vehicles and goods worth over $22 million belonging to Colombian and Mexican drug cartels, the agency announced Wednesday.

Inside the 32 estates in the Quindío, Antioquia, Bolívar, Caldas, Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca departments, agents found farms, penthouses, houses, apartments and over 30 vehicles which authorities claim belonged to the defunct Norte del Valle cartel and their Mexican associates.

The expropriation orders were a result of a two-year investigation by detectives. Investigators have identified two people as owners of the luxury goods, one apparently a fugitive from the Mexican authorities.
