Crackdown on Office of Envigado yields 32 arrests

At least 32 people were captured in the early hours of Friday in a Police offensive against the paramilitary Office of Envigado in Colombia’s Aburra Valley.

According to police reports, those captured will face charges of conspiracy, murder, forced disappearances and arms and drug trafficking, reported newspaper El Espectador on Friday.

The ongoing police operation against the Office run by alias ‘Valenciano’, for whom the Government is offering a 2 billion peso reward, was conducted in various neighborhoods and districts of the city of Medellin.

President Alvaro Uribe recently applauded the Medellin authorities for their efforts to combat crime in the city, however homicide rates continue to soar.
