Contestants selected for Mashup DJ battle

Twenty-four of Colombia’s best DJs have been selected to battle it out in Shock magazine’s 2011 DJ Mashup competition, starting August 18.

After a month long selection process, the competition was whittled down to three groups of six professionals and two amateurs, who will go head to head in contests in Bogota, Cali and Medellin for the right to compete in the national final.

Each DJ will have to play mashup records – mixing cuts and samples of different well-known songs to produce their own on-the-spot version.

The winners will be chosen by a mix of popular vote – from Shock readers and the on-the-night audience – and judges’ decision.

The eventual winner will get the chance to play on the Miller Music Tour 2012 in the U.S. and at the closing party of the Shock Awards 2011. They will also get a contract to play five gigs at Miller events in Colombia, a Macbook pro and a half page article in Shock magazine.
