Colombia’s unemployment up for 1st time since Feb 2011

Colombia’s September unemployment has risen slightly to 9.9% compared to the same month last year, the government says. The rise is the first in one and a half years.

Despite the negative findings, the report pointed out that unemployment was still in single digits and remains lower than years past, like in January of 2010 when the rate was higher than 14%.

Cities that experienced hikes in unemployment were: Popayan, Quibdo and Armenia while Bucaramanga and Bogota’s unemployment rate declined.
