The Ministry of Transportat reports that 134 of Colombia’s main roads in 15 out of 32 departments have been damaged in this year’s rainy season, reported newspaper El Tiempo on Wednesday.
The ministry said that Caldas’ roads have been most affected by the rain, with nine roads closed and 26 left with restricted access.
In Antioquia, eight roads – including Medellin’s Las Palmas, have been closed and 16 have restricted access.
Transport Minister German Cardona Gutierrez went to Barranquilla this week to assess the damage from the flooding of the Magdalena River.
This year’s rainy seasons has taken over 200 lives and displaced 1.6 million people. A variety of charities are taking donations in Colombia and the government has set up a donation website for foreigners who want to contribute.
