Colombia’s Chocquibtown release new single (Audio)

Colombia’s Chocquibtown show their romantic side with the release of their new single “Hasta El Techo” (“Until the Roof”) from their latest album “Eso Es Lo Que Hay” (“This Is What There Is”).

The single is the brain-child of band members Goyo, Slow Mike, and Tostao.

“The song shows the [feeling of] fullness you achieve when you are feeling love, any kind of love,” Goyo said.

Chocquibtown will perform at this year’s Leyenda Vallenate festival Friday April 27 in the northern Cesar department and in Bogota May 4 at the Royal Theatre Center.

The band has received six nominations for Colombia’s 2012 Nuestra Tierra (“Our Earth”) awards, including Best Artist, Best Album, and Best Urban Group.

Chocquibtown — who come from one of Colombia’s poorest cities, Quibdo in the Choco department — sky-rocketed to success in 2010 with their highly acclaimed single “De Donde Vengo Yo” (“Where I Come From”), winning Best Alternative Song at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards and performing at the United States’ SWSX festival that same year.
