Colombian security forces deal major blows to guerrillas in 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, security forces killed or captured 30 ELN and FARC members, according to Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon.

“In the past 24 hours, in the whole of the country, 30 terrorists of the FARC and ELN have been neutralized. 16 have been killed in military operations and 14 have been captured, a large number of them wounded,” said Pinzon.

The most recent military operations include the capture of eight supposed FARC members in central Colombia — five in the department of Meta and three in the department of Guaviare.

The air forces also bombed an alleged ELN camp Thursday in the western department of Choco, reportedly killing seven supposed ELN guerrillas. The aerial bombardment of the encampment came after four months of intelligence work to determine its location.
