Colombian police dismantle ELN arms factory

Security forces dismantled an ELN arms and uniforms factory in western Colombia, leaving one alleged member of the guerrilla group dead, reported local media Thursday.

The complex was in the Medio San Juan municipality of the Choco department and supposedly belonged to the Western Front of the ELN, headed by alias “Fabian.”

According to military reports, a guerrilla alias “Camila” was shot in the operation after soldiers determined he was equipped with an M-4 rifle, two 9mm pistols, several antipersonnel landmines ready for use and ammunition reserves.

Authorities also found kitchen and housing accommodations for about 20 guerrillas along with military supplies and materials to make homemade explosives.
