The Ministry of Culture launches a new project, “Colombia in Movies: Cinema for Everyone,” which will showcase recent Colombian films for free in 20 cities across the country.
Every week for six months, theaters will be opening their doors to the public who wish to see both a short and full-length film that are Colombian creations.
“Stories of love, action, and comedy made in Colombia in the last three years… will be presented in theaters, universities, libraries, cultural centers, and galleries that have conformed into an alternative space, and thanks to the help of the Ministry of Culture, they will turn into promotors of Colombian cinema,” stated a news bulletin for the event.
The project is the first of it’s kind to circulate national cinema in this way. It strives to strengthen exhibition in the country and bring more people closer to Colombian filmmaking. 48 Colombian films, both fiction and documentary, have been chosen for the public showings that will offered at the following theaters nationwide:
