The Colombian government announced on Friday that five more people were tested positive for the new strain of AH1N1 influenza virus, raising the infection toll to 40, including one death.
The five patients came from three cities — Medellin, Cali, and Barranquilla and all of them had traveled to foreign countries before, according to a report of the Social Welfare Ministry.
Currently the five patients are in good condition and under the supervision of health authorities, the report said.
Last week, a 24-year-old woman died of severe pneumonia derived from the AH1N1 influenza in a hospital in the south of the capital, Bogota, said Social Welfare Minister Diego Palacio.
