Colombia police seize 4 tons of marijuana

Colombian police claimed Friday to have seized four tons of marijuana and destroyed nine cocaine labs in the west of the country.

According to the director of the anti-narcotics unit of the police, the successful operations against drug trafficking operations were carried out in the Valle del Cauca department.

The marijuana, found in a truck traveling through the department, belonged to the FARC, police commander Luis Alberto Perez said.

In Bolivar, a municipality in the north of the same department, police said to have destroyed nine cocaine labs allegedly belonging to “Los Rastrojos,” one of Colombia’s most powerful drug trafficking organizations.

“It was a complex of nine laboratories with the capacity to produce a ton of cocaine a week,” said Perez, adding that the 20 men working in the labs escaped.
