Colombia police seize 6 tons of cocaine, 8 tons of marijuana

Colombian authorities have seized more than six tons of cocaine and eight tons of marijuana in several counter-narcotics operations across the country, police said Sunday.

According to General Alberto Perez of the anti-narcotis unit of the National Police, two illicit drugs were seized over the last three days in several operations.

The largest haul was in the northernmost La Guajira department where two tons of cocaine allegedly belonging to neo-paramilitary group “Los Urabeños” was seized.

Four more tons of cocaine were seized in operations in the departments of Cauca, Casanare, Caqueta and Caldas.

In two separate operations, both in the western Valle del Cauca department, police intercepted eight tons of marijuana.
