Captured Colombian neo-paramilitary leader ‘fears for his life’

“Mi Sangre,” a recently captured commander of Colombia’s largest neo-paramilitary group, the “Urabeños,” said Sunday he is terrified his life is in danger.

After years of allegedly terrorizing Colombians through his vicious neo-paramilitary group, Mi Sangre now believes his own safety is at risk.

“I’m afraid they will kill me, my enemies are prepared for anything,” Mi Sangre, whose real name is Henry de Jesus Lopez Londoño, told Argentine media.

The 41-year-old Mi Sangre, who is alleged to have been involved in crime for more than 20 years, was arrested in Argentine capital of Buenas Aires in late October.

The neo-paramilitary is wanted by Colombia to face drug trafficking, terrorism and conspiracy charges. He is also wanted by the U.S. to face drug trafficking charges.

For his part, Mi Sangre has argued the charges are politically motivated. Indeed, he has said “I’ve never moved a single gram of cocaine in my life.”
