Bogota’s mayor in car accident

Bogota Mayor Gustavo Petro was in a minor car accident on a Bogota highway around 9:30 PM on Sunday night.

Petro described the incident on his Twitter account saying that an incoming car crossed into his lane, “hitting his car and one of his motorcycle escorts.” He reported that he and his family were fine but that the police escort on the motorcycle was hospitalized.

The young man who caused the accident was apparently rushing to work. Gustavo Tweeted that the police administered a breathalizer test but did not report the results.

The Progressive Party mayor’s most recent update reported that the injured policeman was “concious, in pain, and waiting for the x-ray results.”
