Bogota airport authorities find $2.8M in luggage

Bogota airport authorities found $2.8 million in the luggage of a Mexican man entering Colombia, the police said Monday.

According to the authorities, the money came from the powerful Mexican Sinaloa cartel and was seized Sunday thanks to cooperation between the Mexican and Colombian police. The money was meant for one of Colombia’s drug trafficking organizations, Police colonel Hoover Penilla told reporters.

The man carrying the money was arrested.
