Bodies of victims of armed conflict returned to families

The bodies of 28 victims from the armed conflict were exhumed and returned to their families, announced Prosecutor General Viviane Morales.

According to Colombian media, the victims, 27 men and one woman, were murdered by guerrillas and paramilitaries between the years of 1991 and 2008. The remains were exhumed from the departments of Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Caldas, Valle del Cauca, and Meta.

The body of Cesar Dario Peña, a priest who was murdered by FARC’s 36th Front in 2004, was among the returned remains. Peña’s brother explained that he forgave the priest’s murderer but still felt the pain caused by his absence, RCN Radio reported.
