Bodies of two women and two little girls found strangled

The bodies of a grandmother, her daughter and her 2 and 5-year old
granddaughters were found strangled in a village, 75 miles east of
Medellín.

The victims were family of a lower army official who moved to Puerto Berrio five months ago.

“Reportedly four persons unfortunately were found in the La Milla neighborhood, appearing to be a family of a grandmother of 51 years old, her daughter of 21 and her two daughters of five and two years old,” Antioquia governor Andrés Julián Rendón said Sunday.

Preliminary investigations reveal the women and children died on December 30. There are no suspects for the multiple homicide.

The northern and eastern part of Antioquia and nearby departments of Córdoba and Chocó have seen a sharp increase of homicides after the demobilization of the AUC  and the extradition of its former leaders. New drug gangs and paramilitary groups are trying to take control of the region that’s of great importance for the drug trade.
