Colombian authorities have offered a $112,000 reward for information that leads to the perpetrators of the attack that killed five policemen in the northern department of Cesar Saturday, reported RCN Radio Sunday.
Minister of Defense Rodrigo Rivera, Armed Forces commander Edgar Cely and Police commissioner Oscar Naranjo presided a special security council where they called on the population to surrender information that can lead to those guilty of the ambush.
The military heads also reiterated the reward for information leading to the arrest of dissident guerrilla group EPL commander “Megateo,” who is thought to be active in the region.
Rivera vowed also to increase the number of troops in the area to increase security on the road connecting the Norte de Santander and Cesar departments, which according to the authorities is of great strategic value to illegal armed groups like the FARC and ELN.
