Arrest warrants issued against 1410 FARC rebels

Authorities in the south west of Colombia said Sunday they identified 1410 members of the FARC operating in the Colombian departments of Valle del Cauca, Nariño, and Cauca and heve issued individual arrest warrants against them, RCN reported Saturday.

“The important thing is that these criminals know that we have identified them individually. They are fighters who hide among the [civilian] population and we are going to pursue, capture and hand them over to the authorities” Admiral Edgar Cely, commander of the Military Forces announced in Cali, capital of Valle del Cauca department.

Admiral Cely said that in total 501 members of armed illegal groups have been neutralized so far this year in the departments of Choco, Valle del Cauca, Nariño, and Cauca.

Specifically 167 FARC guerrillas, 33 ELN fighters, 44 members of neo-paramilitary gangs, 89 members of drug-trafficking gangs and 168 people related to common organized crime.
