Army detains captor of former congressman

Army troops captured four FARC guerillas in northwest Colombia, among them included the captor of former congressman Oscar Tulio Lizcano.

The capture took place in a rural area located in Novita, a municipality in the western department of Choco.

One of the guerillas turned out to be the former captor of Lizcano, an ex-congressman for the department of Caldas, who was kidnapped in 2000 and held for eight years. According to media reports, the captor was the head of finances for the Aurelio Rodirguez Front of the FARC.

During the capture, the guerillas seized a woman and her five sons as captives to act as a human shield.

The army also confiscated multiple rifles as well as radios and cellphones used for communication.
