Antioquia police find 9 bodies in 3 graves

Authorities have discovered nine bodies buried in three Antioquia graves who they believe to belong to the kidnap victims in a territorial war between drug lords “Sebastian” and “Valenciano.”

10 people were kidnapped on April 24 from a holiday home in the municipality of Sopetran, just north of Antioquia’s capital, Medellin. They were apparently members of the internally divided neo-paramilitary group “Oficina de Envigado,” belonging to Valenciano’s faction.

The recent capture of Jesus David Hernandez, alias “Chaparro,” drug lord Sebastian’s second-in-command, apparently led to the discovery of the bodies, which were found in three unmarked communal graves.

Chaparro has been working with authorities since his capture and provided the details for the authorities to locate the victims, in a rural area about an hour from where they were abducted.

“We can say with 70% certainty that it is them [the disappeared], and it was alias Chaparro, head of assassins for alias Sebastian, who gave us the information and one must not forget that it was he who ordered the possible massacre,” stated Antioquia Police Chief Colonel Jose Acevedo.

Forensic tests are currently being carried out in order to officially identify the victims.
