Northern Colombia soldiers, police arrested for drug ties

Anti-narcotics agents arrested 20 members of the criminal gang “Los Rastrojos,” among which are three soldiers and seven policemen.

The arrest occurred in the northern region of the Antioquia department, where Los Rastrojos have a strong presence.

Authorities say that the members of military and police were on the same payroll as members of the gang.

They were allegedly paid $1,130 dollars a month by the murdered leader of Los Rastrojos, Angel de Jesus Pacheco, alias “Sebastian.” Sebastian was reportedly betrayed and murdered by his own bodyguards on July 25, 2011.
