Security forces kill 4 FARC, commander suspected dead

The Colombian armed forces strike a blow against the FARC in the Antioquia department, killing four guerrillas and potentially the front’s commander, reported newspaper Semana.

It was originally reported that among the dead was the leader of the 9th Front, Jose Luis Naranjo Garcia alias “Gabriel” but reports now indicate that he may be trapped on nearby roads.

La Semana reported that the army pushed the FARC front to the border of Caldas in the south of Antioquia. There, near the town of Samana, the army and air force engaged in a land and aerial assault on the guerrilla encampment.

After the battle, security forces found a rifle, handgun and other articles suspected to belong to “Gabriel.”

According to La Semana, Gabriel is now trapped on the roads that lead to Caldas.
