Police seize 300kg of cocaine in northern Colombia

Police said Sunday they have seized some 300kg of cocaine in a home in the northern Colombian port city of Cartagena.

According to a press release, policemen found the stash in 12 suitcases that were standing in an apartment in an up-scale neighborhood in Colombia’s most popular tourist destination on the Caribbean coast on Friday.

The drugs had come from the southwestern Cauca department and belonged to the drug trafficking organization of “Los Rastrojos,” said the authorities.

The apartment where the drugs were found had been reinforced to protect traffickers and drug shipments from possible confrontations with the police or rival drug gangs.
