Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch made a quick visit to Bogota from September 17 through 19 to inspect local Fox News facilities, Colombian media reported Tuesday.
Murdoch came to see the facilities of the company Fox Telecolombia, which produces for the Fox channel. Samuel Duque Jr., vice president of operations and production at Fox Colombia, said the visit took him by surprise. “He organized a visit to Bogota and within his schedule he wanted to get an understanding of this enterprise, he visited us, and we told him a little about the production and content work we do here.”
There are unofficial reports that Murdoch met with former President Alvaro Uribe, but this was not confirmed, according to Colombian newspaper Portafolio.
Murdoch, the principal shareholder of the NewsCorp conglomeration, stayed at the Marriott Hotel and was accompanied by Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Robert Thomson.
