Millonarios beat Nacional on opening day of Liga Postobon

Millonarios of Bogota are the first leaders of the 2010 Liga Postobon I following a 2-1 win over Atletico Nacional on Saturday.

No goals were scored in the first half of Millonarios versus Nacional, in which the main highlights were a red card to Edson Vasquez of Millonarios and one shot on the post from each side.

Nacional took the lead five minutes after the break, when a free kick from Stalin Motta was redirected into his own goal by Millonarios keeper Obelar, who apart from that error delivered a good performance in this match.

Things went the other way ten minutes after the opening goal, when Walter Moreno committed a foul in the penalty area with a second yellow card and a spot kick as result. Yovanny Arrechea took the responsibility and levelled the score to 1-1.

The winning goal came five minutes later, as Arrechea powered a shot into the left corner of the goal from outside the penalty area.

In the other Medellin-Bogota clash, defending champions Independiente were held to a goalless draw by Cup winners Santa Fe.

The opening match of the season, played earlier on Saturday, ended in a 2-2 draw between America de Cali and Atletico Huila. Ayron Del Valle had the honor of scoring the very first league goal of the year in Huila’s favor after 14 minutes. Juan Angulo equalised four minutes later and America completed their turn-around when Wilson Moreno made it 2-1 on the half hour mark.

However, their lead did not last long either, as Rafael Castilla netted for 2-2 in minute 34.
