Medellin prepares for international art fair

Medellin gears up for it’s fourth year of hosting citywide art event International Encounter Medellin (MDE), a project put on by the Museo de Antioquia.

This year MDE11 will be hosting events starting in September and lasting through December, all with the theme “teaching and learning.”

The Encounter seeks to convert Medellin into a international artistic center that promotes the production, circulation, and appropriation of contemporary artistic practices. Throughout the event, artistic expression comes alive in the city in the form of installations, conferences, expositions, workshops, concerts, chats, and many other activities.

The first year of MDE was in 2007, where the theme focused on spaces of hospitality, including more than 286 artists and conference hosts that and interacted with approximately 300,000 people.
