Atletico Huila suffered their first defeat of the season, allowing
Independiente Medellin to reduce the gap from four points to just one.
Atletico Nacional were victorious against Cucuta.
The clash between leaders Huila and second-placed Medellin had the visiting side hand the hosts their first defeat since the start of the season. Jackson Martinez put DIM ahead in the first minute after the break, and then added a second six minutes after the hour. As a result, Medellin are now only one point behind Huila, who do remain in the lead.
Santa Fe defended their third place with a 3-0 win over local rivals La Equidad on Saturday. Omar Perez scored the opener in the 36th minute, Yovanny Arrechea made it 2-0 in the 73rd and Mario Gomez netted the third and final goal with nine minutes to play.
Atletico Nacional needed just one goal to make a difference against Cucuta, and it was Giovanni Moreno to score from the penalty spot in the 75th minute.
The match between Deportivo Pasto and Deportes Tolima ended in a 3-1 home victory. Oscar Altamirano’s opening goal on 47 minutes was cancelled out by Jorge Perlaza in the 52nd, but Juan Bazan restored Pasto’s lead three minutes later. German Centurion took away all doubts scoring for 3-1 in minute 68.
Deportivo Cali maintained themselves in the top eight thanks to a 2-1 win over Quindio. Sergio Herrera scored both home goals, doing so in the 11th and 45th minute. Quindio’s only goal came from Hanyer Mosquera in the 32nd minute. Alexander Mejia (Quindio) and Juan Dominguez (Cali) were red-carded late on.
The coastal derby between Cartagena and Junior, played on Saturday, ended in a 2-2 draw. Norvey Orozco and Giovanni Hernandez scored for the visiting team, and the home goals came from Rafael Marquez and Jose Najera, the latter scoring the equaliser in the first minute of injury time.
Defending champions Once Caldas were held to a 0-0 draw by Millonarios in Manizales. The hosts had Yesinguer Jimenez sent off in the 14th minute, but Millonarios players Elkin Blanco and Ricardo Ciciliano followed in the second half.
The match between Envigado and Pereira ended without goals as well, and this game wasn’t free of red cards either. Envigado’s Rafael Orrego was sent for an early shower in the 67th minute, followed by Edwin Tenorio of Pereira in the 75th.
Both Boyaca Chico and America de Cali continue to struggle near the bottom, and didn’t do themselves any favor drawing 1-1 in Tunja. The hosts had taken a lead through Edilio Cardoso in the 15th minute, but Gustavo Ramos equalised in the 76th.
Based on the current standings, Huila, Medellin, Santa Fe, Nacional, Pasto, Cali, Junior and Millonarios are on course for a spot in the group phase.
