Poblado serves up award-winning gin

Award-winning Scottish gin, Hendrick’s, is now available in Medellin.

After successfully launching in Bogota last year and in Cartagena in December, the “unusual” gin, which is infused with Bulgarian rose and cucumber along with the traditional juniper, can now wet the whistles of the Paisa population, but only for a select few as the sumptuous spirit is not available citywide.

Supplies are limited because only 528 gallons of Hendrick’s are produced per month in a distillery in west Scotland.

At $138 a bottle and $15.50 for a gin and tonic, the price is a bit steep for Medellin’s gin connoiseurs. But if you’re willing to shell out the pesos, Hendrick’s will be available until the end of May at upscale Poblado joint, Sinko Bar, the city’s “bar of the moment,” according to Hendrick’s marketing manager Mauricio Gutierrez who spoke with Colombia Reports.

Once it hits Dislicores liquor stores in Los Molinos, Oviedo and El Tesoro malls in June it’ll become a bit easier on the wallet at only $83 per 750ml bottle.

Starting in June, Triada and Dry Martini Bar in Poblado will also be serving up some tasty Hendrick’s cucumber cocktails.
