The family of a slain forced displacement leader claimed Wednesday that the state is not providing them asylum in another country despite threats on the family members lives.

A spokeswoman from Human Rights in Medellin confessed to the radio station that there are insufficient funds to process all the family members’ passports.
However, Interior Minister German Vargas Lleras said the government has made everything possible for the family’s relocation to Venezuela.
“The Interior Ministry made resources for relocation available to the family of Ana Fabricia… the tickets to be transferred to Bogota were delayed because they claimed that their father was sick and they did not want to move from Medellin to Bogota, which is a transit place, because their departure to Venezuela is authorized, by arrangements made by ex-senator Piedad Cordoba,” claimed Vargas Lleras.
According to newspaper El Tiempo, the family members, who are currently living in a slum dwelling in Medellin, consists of the murdered leader’s husband, their three children, a son-in-law, and the widow of their slain son who was murdered a year before Ana Patricia.
The government first began examining the possibility of relocating the family in mid June when it was trying to establish a country that would accept them.
According to the family, the police have made no progress in the investigation of the human rights leader’s murder.
